5 tips for a successful pregnancy this summer

Ah, summer pregnancy! It's like trying to wear a spacesuit in the middle of the desert, isn't it?

The high temperatures, hot sun and humidity can make pregnancy harder to bear. But don't worry, my mommy-to-be friends, I'm here to give you tips to help you enjoy your pregnancy this summer:

1. Water will be your best ally

During these few weeks in the heat, drinking enough water is crucial for you and your little baby growing inside you. It is recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day and even more if you are active or spend a lot of time outdoors. If you are like me and often forget to drink enough, I suggest putting post-it notes all over your house to remind you to drink water. And if that doesn't work, there are apps that will send you reminders to drink water. Yes, there are apps for everything!

2. Your outfit will need to be ultra comfortable

You can say goodbye to tight pants and tight clothes. Wear clothes that you are comfortable in: rather light and loose so that you are free to move without feeling crushed. Natural fabrics like cotton, silk and linen are ideal for summer, as they are lightweight and allow your skin to breathe. And if you're in an area that allows it, feel free to spend your days in a swimsuit/sarong! What? Who can stop you?

We recommend the French brand Jolie Bump for eco-responsible, ultra comfortable and trendy maternity clothes.

PS: Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes too, because your feet can swell in the summer. And even if you fall for the "flip-flops - socks", we won't hold it against you, we promise!

3. Avoid the sun

Protect yourself from the sun: in this summer period, the sun can be very strong, and the heat creates a bigger fatigue. Avoid spending time outside during the hottest part of the day, when the sun is strongest. Stay cool while you can, and take the opportunity to rest. Who can blame you for spending your day watching Netflix? Others may say you're lazy, but we know you're doing what's best for your baby.

4. Eat healthy

At the same time, with all the things we're not allowed to eat, what do we have left?

Fresh fruits and vegetables are especially important, as they contain essential vitamins and minerals. Avoid processed foods and fast food, which can be high in calories and saturated fat.

5. Exercise

Yes, it may seem counterintuitive, but staying active is important during pregnancy. We're not asking you to run a marathon, far from it! Gentle activities such as walking, swimming, pilates and yoga are excellent for maintaining your physical and mental fitness.

Always ask your doctor or gynecologist for advice before starting these activities.

Last but not least tip for the road: to avoid last minute stress, remember to prepare everything in advance to welcome baby in all serenity. Think in particular of the hospital bag that we advise to prepare in the 6th month of pregnancy. Discover our article on how to prepare your maternity suitcase.

So we know, summer pregnancy can be tough, but with a little forethought and care, you can have a fun and comfortable summer and still keep smiling. Come on, just a few more days/weeks to go and you'll soon have your little one in your arms
